Getting in the water with our dolphins just got better than ever! From September 1st through December 15, 2008, Florida residents will enjoy over 30% off all our dolphin interaction programs at Dolphin Harbor. In an effort to create awareness and raise funds for protected Florida manatees, Miami Seaquarium and Bank of America joined forces in the campaign, 'Change for a Change'. Deposit your spare change at any Bank of America nationwide to the Manatee Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP) account # 229020448559 to help the protected Florida manatees and you’ll also receive $7.50 off your visit to Miami Seaquarium.
We hope this campaign really makes a difference for manatees. Our goal is to encourage people to become as passionate and involved with this threatened specie as we are, said Eric Eimstad, VP of Sales and Marketing at Miami Seaquarium.
In honor of Manatee Awareness Month, guests can begin enjoying the discounted rate starting November 1st and continuing through December 15th, 2008. Miami Seaquarium presents a dazzling display of Holiday merriment during its annual Winter Nights & Lights Celebration that will transform the park into a Winter Wonderland from December 20, 2008 through January 3, 2009. In addition to magical light sculptures of reef fish, flamingos, dolphins, seals, sea lions, killer whales and other marine friends, Winter Nights & Lights will feature nightly snowfall, fireworks, the Kids Winterfest, extended park hours and Holiday themed shows and exhibits. The annual event will start at 9:30 a.m. daily and run through 8 p.m., except for December 24, 25 and 31, when the park will close at 6:00 p.m. Admission to Winter Nights & Lights is included with regular park admission.

MIAMI SEAQUARIUM CONTINUES MISSION TO EDUCATE STUDENTS THROUGH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN 2008-2009
MIAMI, FL – July 22, 2008 – For more than 50 years Miami Seaquarium has been a firm advocate of marine life conservation and education. Through its current interactive educational programs, Miami Seaquarium wants to continue its mission of educating students of all ages about the wonders of marine life. Miami Seaquarium is hosting several educational programs, such as: Home School Days, Day Camps, Scout Camping Adventure, and “Mommy and Me,” a program for mothers and young children.
Home school students can participate in the educational programs offered at Miami Seaquarium by attending the Miami Seaquarium 2008-2009 Home School Programs, starting September 9th and continuing the second Tuesday of every month. The program will help students from pre-K to high school learn about marine plants, animals and many other aspects of marine life in an interactive, hands-on way.
In addition, this semester, Miami Seaquarium is offering Scouting Adventure. This includes Boy Scouts Day, where boy Scouts from all over South Florida will put on their green hats, and enjoy a memorable day of learning about marine life and the effects of pollution on these organisms. During the program, the park’s trained education staff will guide troops around the park as they enjoy science presentations, animal interactions, and marine mammal shows. Also souvenir patch, and admission into the park for the next day. Each troop must bring an appropriate scout to leader ratio and at least one adult must have current first aid and CPR certifications. The camp out will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 1 p.m. through 10 a.m.
Also available November 15th 2008, is “Boy Scout Trainer for a Day”, and January 24th 2009, is “Girl Scout Trainer for a Day”. Scouts will have the opportunity to see a training session, a behind-the-scenes tour of our training facilities, feed and touch one of our marine mammals, and play with the dolphins. Experienced trainers will be available to answer all your questions about what it takes to become a marine mammal trainer and how to get started. In addition, Girl Scouts Day will be available Saturday October 18th 2008. This includes learning about aquatic animals and their habitats while completing a corresponding try-it or badge. The program includes science presentations, animal interactions, marine mammal shows, craft, snack, and much more.
Plus mothers and their children between the ages of two to five may enjoy “Mommy and Me.” During the program, mother and child will learn about different animals, from sea turtles to reptiles. The program will offer mothers and children the opportunity to interrelate and bond with these unique animals. “Mommy and Me” dates in 2008 include, September 16th, October 21st, November 18th, December 16th, and January 20th, February 17th, March 17th, April 21st in 2009.
Additionally, Miami Seaquarium Day Camps are offered as alternatives to teacher work days: These include topics such as octopuses, sea hares, jellyfish and sea cucumbers. Topics explored will include their survival, what they eat and what makes them unique. Also learn more about some of the largest predators in the ocean such as sharks and killer whales and see why they are at the top of the food chain.
